LGBTQIA| LGBTQIA community| Here's everything you need to know

What does LGBTQIA mean?

LGBTQIA is an acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual. It is a community filled with people who identify themselves as written above.

Before this group was just called the "gay community". I can safely say that we have come a long way as these letters represent inclusion.

Youth growing up today will see changes that previous ages of lesbians and gay men couldn't have ever expected in the course of their lives, including lawmakers, business pioneers, and teachers who are straightforwardly gay; marriage between same-sex couples; and an advancing mainstream and imaginative culture that gives numerous positive depictions of lesbian and gay characters in films and plays, on TV, and in writing. The present youth can utilize the Internet to recover online data about LGBT issues, giving interpersonal interaction openings and admittance to information in a manner that was not accessible to more established companions. Simultaneously, youthful LGBT individuals looking through the Internet and associating with their friends will know about the unavoidable negative perspectives on sexual and sex minorities.

Similarly, numerous transsexual older folks didn't know as kids that other transsexual individuals existed, and unquestionably got little affirmation of their transsexual sentiments. Paradoxically, numerous transsexual kids and young people today have good examples (either in the media or, in actuality), and their sex variation articulation is regularly adequate for guardians to get more data and access existing organizations of families with sexual orientation variation youngsters. Additionally, transsexual youth today approach early clinical intercession to lighten any sexual orientation dysphoria (characterized as distress with one's sex allocated upon entering the world) they may insight.

LGBT youth face similar difficulties as their hetero peers, yet additionally, a disgrace that may add to the recognized aberrations in wellbeing status among sexual-and sex minority youth and hetero youth.

The capacity to address these differences is hampered by our absence of information about LGBT youth. One of the difficulties of examining the advancement of kids and youths who are LGBT is that convictions and inclinations have regularly blocked meaningful examination. Not very far in the past, for instance, an overall thought was that one's sexual personality and direction didn't arise until late youth and that an appreciation for individuals of similar sex was probably a passing stage (Money, 1990). In addition, endeavors to overview youngsters about their sexual direction have been loaded with hardships at both the institutional survey board and local area levels. These obstructions have hindered significant formative examination.

From being widely considered illegal to actually starting to get recognised by several countries the movement has come a long way. The movement is not one that was started days ago but is something that has lasted centuries, a movement that once began as something wherein members operated in secret and through secret societies, has now gained worldwide popularity.

So what changed?

One of the major factors that is responsible to have flipped the minds of the people is the “millennial generation”,  who by and large can be classified as people born after 1990. Numerous studies have time and again proved that this set of people are more accepting of the movement and are ready to embrace it much more, as compared to the previous generations, we believe this is partly because of the amount of exposure got by the generation. Another reason is that the movement is no longer just a western movement but is gaining popularity in several other countries, notably in several developing nations. Also the fact that numerous people started coming out, ended up in large amounts of people accepting that it is okay and that there is nothing wrong. This is also one of the driving factors that makes the millenial generation much more open minded because most of them have seen either their friends or family come out. Despite such rapid and sustained growth of the movement, it still has a long long way to go. Same-sex marriage is recognized in a mere 29 countries in the world. Members of the community have still reported to face dicrimination in several walks of their life, conversion camps still exist and many people still look at members of this community as those with mental disroders.
