The public loved it, they followed every moment of this sensational trial. The Gucci murder had the same level of hype as OJ Simpson trial had in the states.  Like the O.J. Simpson's hearing, which highlighted disruptive racial perspectives in American culture, the Gucci case shed light on the ravine dividing the well off from the poor in Italy. This murder is a simple story of greed, desire and jealousy. 

What happened? 

Here’s some background before you proceed reading. The gruesome muder of Maurizio Gucci was planned and executed by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. She hired a debt ridden, desperate hitman to shoot down Maurizio Gucci, on the steps of his office as he arrived for work. She was then convicted for the same and sentenced to 29 years in prison.

What was the motive? 

The motive for the killing was fueled by vengeance, greed, money and power. Patrizia resented that her ex husband was soon going to get married to another woman. She also didn’t like the fact that the upcoming marriage would cut her alimony by nearly half. She wanted control of the Gucci empire, all these combined together finally landed her in prison for nearly decades. From the very beginning Maurizio’s father believed that Patrizia was nothing but a money minded social climber, this endless greed for power resulted in the muder of the once head of the Gucci empire.

But who is Patrizia Reggiani? Lady Gucci, the black widow behind this barbaric murder. She is none other than a woman riddled with greed, lust and a false sense of happiness. She was rich but she wasn’t part of the top tier society like she always wanted. That's when Maurizio came along. To Patrizia, the idea of marrying Maurizio Gucci was like a scene from a movie. Maurizio Gucci was considered to be the most eligible bachelor in all of Italy, and when Patrizia met him he was just a shy, crossed teeth young lad who sat in the corner during parties. But Reggiani was disliked among the Gucci family. She was presumed to be an uncouth social climber, a party girl who came to class wearing tiny cocktail dresses and fur coats from the night before, words from Maurizio's father himself. The dainty-framed, violet-eyed beauty, who was frequently compared to Elizabeth Taylor, came from a far less distinctive background that Rodolfo would have liked. Her mother grew up helping out in the family restaurant, while her father owned a well heeled transport company. Reggiani is simply a woman whose greed got the better of her.
